YouTube Account Disabled
Have you had the experience of having a great morning and you open your email to discover an email from YouTube that your YouTube account has been terminated or suspended?! I don’t know about you, but that was a real shocker and honestly, when you are making videos on YouTube and trying to build up your account you can have a heart attack when you understand that all your hard work has just gone down the toilet. So when the initial shock wears off, I was OK how do we deal with getting the YouTube Account back?
Getting Your Suspended YouTube Account Back
Now you’d think this would be a simple process. Immediately I went onto the net to research the issue only to discover that this sudden suspension or account termination has happened to thousands, yes thousands of other people. This did make me feel a little better knowing that I was not the only one in this horrible situation, but still, I needed to get my account back and it needed to happen now.
Appealing The Suspension
So when your account is terminated there is a link for you to follow to appeal the decision. This has worked for some people. For me, it didn’t. Within a few minutes, I received an email from YouTube telling me the decision was final. No explanation of why this happened. Just, your account is terminated. Now if you research YouTube you will find many people that tell you to appeal the decision, fill in the form and you are good to go. Honestly, I hope that works for you. If it does, I guess you are one of the lucky ones. For me, it didn’t. I came to the conclusion, and I have no proof but do believe that in my description of one of my videos I must have set off an alarm and the bot came and shut me down. What was the word or phrase, I have no idea!
What If Appealing Doesn’t Work?
Back to the research, I went. As I’m sure you know yourself if you are in this situation, this is highly frustrating. I had even received an email from YouTube stating how they are now giving you 3 warnings before they shut you down. I got no warnings. I just got my YouTube account terminated for no reason.
Through my research, I discovered on Twitter this account TeamYouTube. They help you get your account reinstated. Now if it was their work that got my account back I can’t say 100% but they did I believe look into the issue. It did take time. Over a month. By this time I was convinced that my account was dead and there was nothing I could do about it.
Until one fine day over a month later I get a beautiful email from Youtube stating that my account has been reinstated. Go figure! No violations of terms! Well, I already knew that! Yes, my channel has been reinstated. Everything is there and working, as usual, you are welcome to check it out here and don’t forget to subscribe, like and share.
What Have I Learned From This
Don’t put all your eggs into one basket. Yes, YouTube traffic is awesome! Yes, you can make money with YouTube, but you need to have a backup plan as well. Can’t rely solely on one source. Especially when it comes to sites we don’t own. All social media platforms are platforms we don’t own and don’t control. You need to have a backup plan. Build a list, that list is something you own and no one can take it away from you. Have your own website, free sites are great for backlinks, but again can be taken away for no reason.
I hope that my story of how I got my terminated YouTube account back will help you too. This worked for me, no guarantees it will work for you. But you may as well try reaching out to the guys on twitter. Good luck to you!
